Frequently Asked Questions
- What kind of cleaning do you do?
- We use state of the art truck mounted equipment to perform hot water extraction, the method recommended by all major carpet mills.
- In our process, the carpet is carefully vacuumed.
- We will walk the home and identify problem spots and treat them before we begin cleaning. At that time, we will spray the heavy traffic areas, such as hallways with a pre cleaning conditioner. That conditioner is raked into the carpet and allowed to dwell for about 15 minutes.
- We then clean the carpets using a detergent free rinse agent, containing no soap or detergent. This removes soils without adding detergent residues to the carpet.
- In your ad it says, “Detergent Free Cleaning”. What does that mean?
- Detergents and soaps are designed to attract soil. Even the best cleaners, when used properly, will leave soap and detergent residues on the carpet. This will attract dirt as the carpet is walked on.
- Also, recent research has determined that surfactants, (a key part of soap) can damage latex. Latex is the material that holds the carpet together.
- Our process leaves no soapy residue behind. This is also beneficial in that there are no toxic substances left on the carpet.
- Do you move furniture?
- We move most furniture. Some examples of furniture that we will move are sofas, chairs, end tables, lamps, etc. All items that are moved will be replaced on protective blocks or tabs once the carpet is cleaned. These tabs should remain in place for about 24 hours.
- Furniture that we will not move includes musical instruments, electronics, antiques, pieces with lots of breakables on them, grandfather clocks, large cadenzas or beds.
- Our tools will reach under beds a couple of feet all around.
- How long does it take the carpet to dry?
- A good “rule of thumb” is that the carpets are normally dry within 2 to 3 hours. However, the drying is effected by many factors, temperature, humidity, and airflow.
- We will employ forced air movement in all areas cleaned to assist with quicker drying.
- I just need a small spot or area cleaned. How much would you charge to come and get a spot out?
- We have a minimum charge for any trip of $135.00. If you have just one spot that you need cleaned, it may be worth your money to have the entire room cleaned. Also, we can freshen up an adjoining area up to a total service area of 350 square feet.
- My pet has a place where he / she peed on the carpet. Can you treat that? The smell is awful.
- Pet stains / odors can be treated, but they have to be treated from the bottom.
- Cleaning the surface of the carpet will not remove the problem that lies beneath the carpet. If the problem below the carpet is not treated, the problem will return and will probably be worse.
- There is an extra charge for this service.
- Also, due to the nature of urine stains, they sometimes cause color loss. This can not be corrected by cleaning or removing the contamination. This may require re-dying. That is not a service that we offer.
- There is no way to insure that the stain / odor will not return as long as the pet still lives in the home.
- I have some spots on my carpet. Will they come out?
- Spotting agents have undergone continuous advances over the years. While we can say with confidence that specialized processes will usually remove most spots, there is no magic solution to remove everything.
- It is important to understand that there may still be some of those spots that bind to the fiber which may not be removable.
- Some problem spots include, but are not limited to food dyes, (colored beverages, etc), mustard, coffee, especially decaffeinated. Coffee can be an even greater challenge when spilled hot.
- I bought stain resist carpet. I don’t really need Scotchgard™, do I
- Even though you purchased stain resist carpet, you still need to have the protector re-applied in the high traffic areas every 12 to 18 months. Carefully read the documents that came with your stain resist carpet.
- How much do you charge to clean carpet?
- We do not have a set price for every home. Our pricing is based upon your actual cleaning needs. There are many factors which we consider as we price your service.
- All fabrics are not created equal. We need to know what type of fiber your carpet is made of (Natural or synthetic), how it is constructed (tufted, woven, cut pile or loop) and how it is installed. Different carpets require different types of care.
- Accessibility of the areas to be cleaned and overall amount of pre-spotting will affect the price.
- We would be glad to schedule a time to provide you with an estimate. In most cases, once the estimate is reached, we can begin service immediately.
- The price for cleaning will also depend on the size of the home or the rooms being cleaned. The price is based on the square footage of the home, how many stairs, amount of furniture, etc.
- May we schedule a time to provide you with a free, no-obligation estimate?
- But most people have a set price per house and quote a price on the phone.
- It’s true that some services quote prices over the phone. We will provide you with an fairly accurate estimate by phone if you know the square footage of the area to be cleaned.
- The IICRC, who trains and certifies cleaners requires that the cleaner perform thorough testing to determine the proper method for your carpet before he begins to clean. Until we perform the necessary tests, we cannot fully evaluate your needs.
- How can you ask these prices when I can get the whole house done for $75.00? There are many firms offering less expensive cleaning.
- Our experience is that your home is not a “One size fits all” home. Rather, it has its own unique characteristics and needs. Our service is tailored to your individual needs.
- Modern carpets are highly engineered. Not only can the way carpet is constructed have an impact on the cleaning; different types of fibers can require different types of care.
- Our professional technician will perform thorough IICRC recommended testing to determine the proper method for your carpet before he begins to clean.
- We only use processes and products that are approved by the Carpet and Rug Institute (www.carpet-rug.org). The standards required by the CRI are higher than many service providers are willing to offer.
- Our products and process meet the requirements of the carpet manufacturers to fulfill the warranty requirements of their products.
- Also, all of our technicians undergo extensive initial and ongoing training to make sure that they are highly skilled.
- Our owner has been recognized by the industry with the highest level of certification offered by the industry, “Certified Master Textile Cleaner”. We do not promise the lowest prices, just the best results.
